Dan Stine

Class of 2015
Queensbury Spartans
Dan Stine teaches Geography and Theory of Knowledge at Riverside International School in Prague, Czech Republic where he and his wife have been teaching since 2007. Before that Dan taught Leadership Development and English at the Bangkok Institute of Theology in Thailand. He received his Master's Degree at Robert Morris University and his BA from the University of Pittsburgh where he wrestled for four years. He wrestled in the NCAA Championships three times (1999, 2000 and 2001). He also placed in the Eastern Wrestling League tournament those same three years. Dan also set the University of Pittsburgh record for wins as a freshman with 35.

In High School at Queensbury, Dan was 2nd at the Junior National Championships and a three-time All-American. He won the Empire State Games, and the state championships in Freestyle, Folk-style and Greco-Roman. Dan was a three time Section II Champion in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Stine placed in the states all three years with his New York State Championship coming in 1997 for the Spartans.

Dan has said that he is very blessed in his life to have had incredibly supportive and loving parents along with the Queensbury mat fans, ATWA and the Section 2 wrestling community. He credits his coaches, Jack Labombard and Joe DeMeo coupled with the tremendous workout partners he had in Marc French and Josh Etu who were bigger contributors to the wrestling success he had than anything he did or could have done on his own.

As the Proverb says, Iron sharpens iron as one man sharpens another. Thank you for this honor and privilege. I'm humbled to be mentioned alongside these other men here today and am sorry I couldn't be with you in person. Dan Stine
