Jamesville-DeWitt Red Rams


Reed graduated from Vocational High School in Syracuse in 1947. He served in the Navy from 1949-1952, serving in the Korean conflict before attending Syracuse University from 1952-1957.

His wife, Fern, and six children have all worked at the Section and State Tournaments.

He started teaching at Jamesville-Dewitt in 1958 and coached wrestling from 1959-69.

Reed was the Section III Wrestling Chairman from 1967-70, before becoming the State Wrestling Chairman in 1970.

He was instrumental in keeping the State Tournament in Syracuse since the 60s until his retirement.

He was a wrestling official from 1965-85.

As a member of the Syracuse Sports Committee, he has helped bring in such sporting events as the USA vs Russia wrestling meet and the Senior Games.
